This data first appeared in Process Engineering in 1973. Over the period of time it has been through four revisions due to the availability of basic raw data from project sources, which have been and gone over the years.
The current Series 4 has been researched around 12 projects, within the range of £2-£20 million and all completed within years 2006- 2011. The weighting of the composite indices were found not to have changed. The design raw data is from a new reliable source which mirrored the project investigated.
All the data is to a base year 2005 = 100. Which is now seen as the benchmark for UK and World Indices.
The parameters’ for Predict Indices is for a process plant constructed with in a defined on-plot site and excludes all legal fees, public planning, land purchase, offsite connections /services, first charge of chemicals and product first run.
Note only process plants were used, and excluded are nuclear installations.
The composite weightings are:
C = 0.45Eq + 0.1Ci + 0.19Cn + 0.26Di
in which Eq is the ‘Equipment Index’, Ci the ‘Civil Index’, Cn the ‘Construction, or Site, Index’, and Di a ‘Design, Engineering and Administration Index’. All four component indices are in turn made up of their own sets of sub-indices.
All international PE indices are to the base 2005avr = 100, but as the OECD raw data has also recently been revised to this same base, some of the international figures have been revised. Therefore, please consider all figures given below as having been ‘revised’.
