Independent swimming pool water treatment, chemical dosing and control specialist Aquatrol Ltd used a Micronics Ultraflo 3000 flowmeter to identify the circulation and backwash flow rates in some of the public swimming pools in west Sussex.
Places for People Leisure, who operate the pools, wanted to ensure they were operating as efficiently as possible with regards to environmental targets.
The use of variable speed drives to control the main circulation pumps has proved to be a major factor in energy conservation, but when the pumps are turned down it is essential to validate and ensure specified flow rates can be maintained.
The U3000 was chosen as a viable alternative to a traditional in-line meter installation. It offered a non-invasive and therefore quick flow measurement solution that was essential. With its easy to follow menu and simple set up, it proved to be cost-effective as neither installation drain down nor pipe cutting was required.
