Katronic has launched the KATflow 180 clamp-on gas flowmeter. KATflow 180 takes non-invasive, clamp-on ultrasonic measurement of gas flow into new areas by measuring flow at atmospheric pressure, even in steel pipes, says the company.
The flowmeter features a new approach to signal processing and flow calculation. Clamp-on measurement at pressures below 5bar, especially in large pipes, has been thought unachievable because gases dampen ultrasonic signals more than liquids.
Katronic’s new technology increases the performance of both the flowmeter and sensors so gas measurement in metallic pipes, up to 1500mm diameter with pressures as low as 1bar and flow velocity from 0.1 to 75m/s, has become a reality.
Katronic was established in the UK in 1996 as a distributor of process measurement instrumentation with a focus on ultrasonic technologies.
