Yokogawa has won a £4 million lump sum turnkey contract to provide instrumentation and controls for the South Hook liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal, to be built near Milford Haven in Wales .
Set to be the largest LNG terminal in Europe, South Hook will handle LNG from Qatar Terminal Company’s liquefaction facility in Qatar; the company owns 70% of the terminal, with the remainder owned by ExxonMobil Qatargas Terminal Company.
Yokogawa is to work with the EPC contractor on the project, Chicago Bridge & Iron, to design a control system based around its Centum CS3000 R3 DCS. The system will also include a ProSafe emergency shutdown system, HIPPS high-integrity pressure protection and fire and gas detection systems, and an Exaquantum management information system.
The contract is the culmination of a year’s collaboration with the South Hook partners, says Will de Groot, managing director of Yokogawa System Centre Europe.
