Johnson Controls is now offering a systems selection tool for consulting engineers that helps them to develop detailed, accurate plans and specifications for HVAC controls.

The systems selection tool is a stand-alone application supporting more than 170 protocol-independent design systems. With this one resource, consulting engineers can configure an HVAC control system design, while lowering the risk of specifications and drawings not being in synch.

The tool also helps consulting engineers save time by providing a single source for the information they need to quickly configure systems, sequence of operations and point lists. It’s estimated the tool could save consulting engineers 25% to 50% of the time usually required to generate detailed documents.

The tool produces documents compatible with common software programs used by consultants, including the MS Office Suite, Microstation and AutoCAD.

The systems included in the selection tool provide the specifying engineer with numerous resources including point lists, sequence of operations, control flow diagrams, legend sheets and functional specifications.

The tool also allows the engineer to see the end result before producing any documents.

The program provides a set of proven, biddable, performance-based documents which will lower consultants’ risk associated with generating technically challenging specifications and control schematics.
