Oslo – Borregaard, a producer of wood-based and organic chemicals has chosen Honeywell to provide process control systems to streamline its ethanol, lignin and vanillin (ELV) production operations in Norway, by summer 2010. The contract covers the supply of an Experion Process Knowledge System (PKS), backed by a service and support package covering the engineering, configuration and start-up of the system.
Norway-based Borregaard is an international supplier of wood-based chemicals and other organic chemicals with 20 production plants in 12 countries. Accordig to Honeywell, its technology will serve as a common platform for Borregaard’s production sites, helping to reduce complexity and operating costs and improving visibility into operating bottlenecks.
“Competitive advantage is everything in the speciality chemicals business,” said Geir Myhre, general manager, Honeywell Process Solutions Norway. “The new process control system should help Borregaard boost the safety, reliability and efficiency of their plants and in doing so boost both production output and the quality of their paper products.”
