28 Apr 2011
London – Metso is to supply an energy management system to Pori Energia in Pori, Finland. It will be used to enhance the efficiency of production planning and overall operations: collecting data from the power plants’ information systems, steam consumers and service providers.
Metso’s DNA system analyses the data based on which it makes various consumption forecasts and calculates the production plans of all production units. It will also be used in electricity and emissions trading, fuel acquisition and annual planning.
The energy management system covers forecasts for steam and district heat consumption, optimization of production planning, long-term optimization, and support for electricity trading. The new system will be operational in the fall of 2011 and will be integrated into the existing automation and information systems supplied by Metso.
Pori Energia Oy’s most important products include electricity, district heat, industrial energy services as well as contracting and maintenance services. In 2010, its electricity sales amounted to 1,185GWh and district heat sales to 638GWh. The company has over 200 employees, and its net sales were Euro144.5m in 2010
