3D software helps Aberdeen start-up

Aberdeen, UK – When Aberdeen-based Liberty Drilling Equipment (LDE) was founded in October 2010, it had to get its first products for the oil and gas industry designed and built by the following January, or risk losing a valuable client even.

While LDE recognised that it needed to use the latest design software, its staff were all skilled in 2D design; none of them had used 3D digital prototyping software.

To help meet its critical deadline, the company engaged Symetri, a manufacturing design software specialist, to provide expertise in 3D design and knowledge of the oil and gas industry.

Symetri’s training enabled LDE to quickly get up to speed with 3D design techniques and develop a large number of new products ahead of its client’s deadline. This, said Symetri. would not have been possible using 2D design software.
