Avery Weigh-Tronix advances apprenticeship plan

London – Avery Weigh-Tronix has recruited 10 apprentice service technicians as part of its new apprenticeship initiative.The company said it intends to offer this opportunity on an on-going basis, by taking new apprentices on each year for the foreseeable future.
The two-year to three-year programme offers people across the UK the chance to develop new skills in the repair and maintenance of weighing equipment. The course combines a mixture of on the job training with formal academic learning.
“We’re not only investing in the future of Avery Weigh-Tronix by harnessing new talent, we’re also supporting the demand for a new generation of skilled technicians in the UK,” said Peter Branston, general manager for service at the company.
As well as receiving product specific training, apprentices will be assigned a senior mentor, enabling them to benefit from the knowledge and expertise of the company’s 200-strong team of experienced service technicians.
Mike Scott, general manager of Avery Weigh-Tronix, added, “Having started my own career as an apprentice, I believe that apprenticeships are an excellent way of gaining qualifications and practical workplace experience while also being paid a salary.
