Diaphragm valve enhances operational safety
29 Apr 2013
A new generation of diaphragm valves is added to Alfa Laval’s valve portfolio for hygienic applications.
The diaphragm valve-premium (DVP) is a new diaphragm valve that delivers an all-around performance improvement, claim Alfa Laval.
With its enhanced performance, this low-maintenance diaphragm valve doubles the flow and is backed by the comprehensive world-class Q-doc documentation package and ultimately helps lower the total cost of ownership.
The DVP gives double flow rate compared to conventional designs, with significantly reduced pressure drop and turbulence. It also has a more linear flow characteristic, resulting in a more precise flow regulation.
The weir design helps to cut energy costs, as the higher flow rate and lower pressure drop allows the use of smaller feed pumps, Alfa state.
The ability to use smaller pumps, valves and piping also helps reduce installation costs. Thanks to the extended lifetime of the diaphragm, more costs can be saved, due to longer service intervals as well as reduced assembly time.
Uniform compression is assured for safer operation and extended diaphragm lifetime. The mechanism’s built-in click and position system secures correct fastening every time.
Assembly is faster and easier with just one thread - there is no longer four bolts to cross-tighten and re-tighten - and the risk of error is eliminated.
The interior features smooth, curved surfaces free from crevices and pockets ensuring optimal cleanability. The outer surface is also free from threads or other difficult to clean areas.
The valve is backed by the comprehensive Q-doc documentation package, which provides full documentation.
Available certificates and declarations include EHEDG, FDA, USP Class VI, TSE/ADI, 3.1 traceability, surface finish certificates and surface finish conformity declarations.
