Petroleum testing lab reopens after flood
20 Jan 2015
Product testing firm Intertek has reopened its Immingham Docks Laboratory after a tidal surge and widespread flooding destroyed the facility in December 2013.
Sitting alongside the Immingham Biodiesel Plant, the newly rebuilt facility features a petroleum testing and inspection laboratory, and plays host to more than 20 laboratory chemists and inspectors.
The laboratory also forms part of Intertek’s UK apprenticeship programme which offers around 15 apprenticeships across the UK every year.

It is aligned with Intertek’s other Cargo & Analytical Assessment sites across the UK, providing oil and gas analysis expertise across the crude oil, natural gas, petroleum refining support, metering, calibration and safety sectors.
Intertek also provides testing and inspection services for the petrochemical and biofuel industries - such as the Immingham Biodiesel Plant, which benefits from on-site analysis support for its processes.
Intertek UK & Eire chief executive Rob van Dorp said: “Intertek is committed to providing local inspection and testing services in the long term to oil and gas clients in the Humberside area.
“Our unrivalled Immingham location enables us to work closely with our partners in the area to provide analytical services right on the dockside.”
