Energy associations plan merger
1 Jul 2015
The Association for Decentralised Energy (ADE) and the UK Demand Response Association (UKDRA) have announced plans to join forces
The merger seeks to create a strong singular voice for the UK’s decentralised energy sector, a statement from the ADE said.
Going forward, the merged organisation will be known as the Association for Decentralised Energy.
Demand side measures could save energy customers £5.6 billion in fuel and power costs
ADE director Tim Rotheray
“The expertise in demand response brought by the UKDRA is an ideal fit with the ADE’s membership and activity,” said UKDRA director Sara Bell.
“With increasing focus on how we can use our energy resources more efficiently, now is the opportune time to present a united voice that will not only benefit the demand side sector, but all energy customers.”
ADE director Dr Tim Rotheray added that both organisations were linked by their ”vision of an energy system that starts with the customer”.
“Demand side measures could save energy customers £5.6 billion in fuel and power costs, but to unlock this potential, the customer must be put at the centre of the energy system and all options must be able to compete on a level playing field,” said Rotheray.
“The UKDRA has had a key role highlighting the value of managing demand, rather than building more power stations, to meet our energy needs. By bringing these two organisations together, we will strengthen the voice for a more cost effective, less wasteful, low carbon energy system that puts the customer at the centre.”
