Honeywell Process Solutions (HPS) has rolled out an updated version of Experion LX, its distributed control system (DCS) for small and mid-sized companies.
Based on technology from its Experion Process Knowledge System (PKS), the company said it now offered improved support for mid-sized chemical processing, industrial power, biofuels, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, and water and wastewater facilities.
“Increasing manufacturing agility, meeting strict regulatory standards, controlling energy usage and reducing maintenance costs are pressing challenges faced by our small- and mid-sized customers,” said Shen Tao, Experion LX senior product manager, HPS.

Key enhancements include improved batch operations capabilities, and class-based recipes to facilitate reuse of recipes which aims to reduce the cost of recipe engineering, maintenance, and testing.
A broader set of SCADA capabilities will now also include new equipment-based configuration to reduce engineering effort.
The addition of tools such as HMIWeb Solution Pack offer users a library of standardised objects for creation of ASM compliant displays.
A CAB developer and application development toolkit has also been included to aid algorithm and application development for specific requirements, helping to trim engineering and maintenance costs.
