EEF steps up to industrial energy challenge

EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation, has rebundled all of its energy savings solutions under one umbrella to ease some of the challenges and complications facing manufacturers.
The move is designed to provide manufacturers with “a more holistic approach” to a highly technical area with complicated and evolving regulation, the EEF said.
Its new Energy Service will comprise a suite of sustainability solutions for building carbon and energy strategies including ISO50001 implementation, energy efficiency, carbon and energy compliance, and training.

The EEF said it had also boosted support for managed metering services to help manufacturers identify where and why energy waste occurs. It will supply the benchmarks and data for achieving certification for energy management systems, the EEF said.
“We’re excited about the launch of Energy Services as it’s the first time we’ve pulled all our energy, environment and sustainability services together to provide businesses with one cohesive, comprehensive and complete view,” said James Wyse, national sustainability lead at EEF.
“It’s an important step because sustainability…remains a challenging and complicated area. There is a pressing need to manage risks and harness opportunities, but very few firms have the in-house skills and knowledge to do this.”
Earlier this year the EEF established a series of regional ISO14001 transitioning hubs to help businesses meet new requirements in environmental management systems.
The organisation is also offering companies a free diagnostic session to mark the launch of the new Energy Service.
