The Nuclear Industry Association (NIA) and the French Nuclear Society have committed to work together to further the French and British nuclear sectors.
The agreement was signed yesterday by NIA chief executive Tom Greatrex and French Nuclear Society president Christophe Béhar at the World Nuclear Exhibition in Paris.

Greatrex said that although the UK voted to leave the European Union (EU) last week, it does not signal the end of cooperation between the UK and EU member states.
“The nuclear industry is a global industry, working across many countries to support low carbon, reliable power generation. Both the UK and France have been at the forefront of the European nuclear industry and this remains the case today.”
Greatrex’s counterpart, Béhar, said nuclear energy is part of the solution to the challenge of climate change.
“The world must use all low-carbon energy sources, including nuclear energy, if it is to limit climate change while still meeting development goals,” Béhar said.
“This MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) fosters the long cooperation between France and [the] United Kingdom, enabling both countries to deliver a safe and low carbon nuclear energy and to reduce CO2 emissions while providing economic and industrial development.”
