British Water launches appeal for case study database
12 Jun 2017
British Water is appealing for industry professionals to share case studies and unsolved challenges for a new resource providing examples of sector best practice.
The company’s data and analytics focus group wants to provide a searchable, universally accessible digital library to help encourage collaboration and knowledge share.
British Water technical director Marta Perez said, “We would like as many case studies as possible from within the water industry and from other relevant sectors. Data is where the big efficiency gains in water can be made, but there is still a lot for utilities, large water users, academics and practitioners across the supply chain to learn.”
The focus group, which comprises experts on data capturing, processing and usage is open to all British Water members, will use the application stories to inform a code of practice.
Huge efficiencies can be achieved when the correct data is gathered and analysed appropriately
Joe Roebuck, convenor, data & analytics focus
Convenor Joe Roebuck explained: “The remit is very broad, from the data capture that feeds into strategy planning for the five-year price reviews UK utilities have to produce, down to where in the network monitoring devices are placed.
“Better understanding and huge efficiencies can be achieved when the correct data is gathered and analysed appropriately. A rich bank of application stories and industry challenges will help the group develop a robust code of practice.”
Case studies be submitted by template here or email Marta.Perez@britishwater.co.uk. Deadline for initial submissions is 31 July 2017.
