Comedian and science advocate Dara O’Briain has presented a BBC 500 Words award to a primary school author for her short story inspired by the Whitechapel fatberg.
Francesca Wade won the bronze medal in the age 5-9 category in the Corporation’s prestigious annual scheme run by BBC Radio 2.
Her piece, Agent Ramsbottom and The Mysterious Fish and Chips, can be heard along with other winning entries here read by O'Briain.
Lanes Utilities, the team behind the excavation of the record-sized Whitechapel fatberg recently documented in Channel 4’s Fatberg Autopsy programme, congratulated Francesca, saying her efforts should encourage youngsters to support its ‘Fatberg Fighters’ schools environmental project.
