Mercury monitor
25 Jan 2005
Anticipating legislation to extend the requirements for the measurement of mercury levels in the environment, Casella Eti has introduced a range of equipment embracing both lab-based and on-line systems.
The key to the range is a high performance photometer with a long-life electrodeless discharge lamp. This provides an extremely stable UV source for accurate and repeatable measurements together with low operating costs and a high degree of reliability.
The TüV-approved SM-3 stack monitor is said to be the first system on the market to operate with reagent-free thermocatalytic detection of elemental, ionic and particle bound mercury in waste and sewage sludge incinerators, power plants, cement kilns and crematoria.
Other process instruments in the range include the PA1, designed for on-line liquid or wastewater measurement with its automatic sample digestion, and the UT3000, which provides a sub-nanogram resolution.
