HTFS links thermal and mechanical HEX design
11 Feb 2002
Hyprotech's latest release of its HTFS heat transfer design system includes several additions that have considerably extended its scope.
The first is Hyprotech's COMThermo package, which is a comprehensive databank of over 1000 components and a range of vapour-liquid equilibrium (VLE) and mixture property calculations. According to Hyprotech, the inclusion of this package in all of the HTFS software is a major increase in capability of particular use to customers who manufacture exchangers or are small engineering consultancies.
Also part of the HTFS release is TASC 5.0, which includes a newly integrated tube layout capability and the option of fully integrated ASME mechanical design in the TASC-Mechanical package.
The integration of thermal and mechanical design in TASC 5.0 is said to have brought savings of up to 25 per cent man effort in large front-end engineering projects. For exchanger manufacturers, even the increase in quotation turn-around can result in 10-15 per cent more orders with reduced technical risk, says the company.
Additional features include reflux condenser sizing within HTFS.TASC, and checking calculations for plate-fin exchangers in HTFS.MUSE.
