Kemira Group acquires Vinings for $138 million
17 Dec 2001
Kemira is set to become a specialty chemicals supplier to the pulp and paper industry with the $138 million acquisition of Vinings Industries.
Vinings is said to be among the biggest suppliers of specialty pulp and paper chemicals in North America and mainly operates in process performance chemicals such as deposit control agents, defoamers, pigment disperging agents and deinking chemicals.
These products are used for increasing productivity in pulp and paper production and they enable higher use of recycled fibres in the process.
According to a statement, Kemira aims to use the acquisition of Vinings to reinforce its aim of becoming a globally preferred partner.
According to Vinings this integration into Kemira should benefit their customers, as they will be able to deal with fewer suppliers that can offer a greater product range on a global basis. Similarly, customers want to work with the basic producers who have the ability to better control the cost, quality and development of new chemistries.
