Rubber chopper is cutting costs
15 Jan 2000
What is claimed as the latest innovation in continuous rubber chopping technology is to be seen on stand D30/E41 in Hall 5. Here, Hosokawa Rietz is showing its Rubber Chopper machine, which can handle regular and irregular shaped bales of natural and synthetic rubber at a production capacity of up to 22 700kg/h.
In the rubber industry, size reduction of the primary product facilitates blending, mixing, dissolving or reclamation processes, reducing process times and cutting costs. According to Hosokawa, because the Rubber Chopper operates at low speeds, it generates high torque but with minimal noise, wear, maintenance and temperature rise. The end result is a rubber product less likely to re-agglomerate, with a minimum risk of fire hazards.
Robustly constructed, the Choppers can consistently handle high throughputs, with a range of drive assemblies and orifice plates available. Hosokawa Rietz will carry out production trials at its own custom-built laboratory and test facility in Buckhaven, Fife.
