Fitted and forgotten

Installed two years ago on a sewage treatment line, an Ultraflux UF322 ultrasonic clamp-on flowmeter from Flowline has performed so reliably that everyone has forgotten about it. According to Flowline, it was told at the time of installation in November 1997 that `if this meter works then there will be more to come.' That remains to be seen, but the original meter is still balancing the flow between two pumping stations six miles apart in the Barnstaple area of North Devon.
During storm conditions the meter also monitors additional flow.
The Ultraflux digital signal processing units have the ability to produce powerful signals to penetrate raw sewage in large, old and badly coated pipes.
