MDC Technology has won its first major order for the PI (plant information) system from Shell UK. The order is for an Operational Data Server (ODS) system at Shell's Stanlow complex in Cheshire (pictured here). The PI system will store data from more than 10 process plant systems in a central database that will provide up to seven years' data history on-line.
The database server will initially support 150 users, who will have access to live and historic plant data via familiar PC applications like Excel.
MDC is a distributor/value-added reseller for the PI package from Oil Systems Inc.
