Reading-based contractor Foster Wheeler Energy has won an 'Alliance' core contract from Shell UK. The contract covers feasibility studies, front end design, detail design, engineering plus procurement and construction management for a wide variety of projects over the next three years. The FWELAlliance team of around 50 people is based at Shell's Stanlow site on the Wirral, Cheshire.
Honeywell allies with BP...
BP and Honeywell have entered into a worldwide, five-year International Business Agreement, extending the scope of an agreement between the two companies signed in 1992. The alliance will be managed by a team of key executives drawn from the control company and each of BP's business units in chemicals, oil and gas, and refining.

Das big business for Costain
Costain Oil, Gas & Process has won an £18m contract with Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction for the new maintenance term project on Das Island. The contract covers the shutdown overhauls of three LNG trains including the world's largest LNG plant in 1998, 1999 and 2000, with an option to repeat the overhauls over the next three years.
Separation firms to merge
From the beginning of this month, the businesses of Dorr Oliver UK and Krauss Maffei UK will be merged. According to Krauss Maffei, the combined company will offer a one-stop-shop for the UK's water, industrial and chemical industries looking for liquid/solid separation equipment and systems.
Miles and miles of plates
Alfa Laval Thermal is to supply Stone & Webster with what it believes is the world's largest single order for plate heat exchangers. Worth around £6m, the 80 individual M30 gasketted exchangers are destined for the PT Trans-Pacific petrochemical complex at Tuban, East Java, Indonesia,
