Firm control for batching and mixing of GR-concrete
15 Jan 2000
Nobel Systems has supplied several batch weighing systems to Power-Sprays who manufacture systems for the batching and mixing of glass reinforced concrete.
Consistent production of GRC, which is used in architectural cladding and pipe-work, has been difficult. Recipes for mixes must be carefully controlled to give correct setting characteristics.
Concrete is sprayed into moulds and allowed to set. Very fine detail can be reproduced quickly, accurately and economically.
The weighing and batching systems are based on Nobel's E-2-CBA controller, which usually has three or four weighing channels controlling the proportions of ingredients required.
The E-2-CBA controls the batching and mixing process and discharge. The display can show different items during batching, all weight channels and process stages. Components are dispensed by the control of screw conveyors, valves and glass fibre choppers.
Up to 100 recipes can be stored in the E-2-CBA. The facility for continuous batching has also been incorporated. Custom software has also been developed beyond the standard batch and component 'totalising' so that complete tracking may be done on batches.
