Centrifuge success spins out a second order
15 Jan 2000
When extra capacity was needed in its production of food ingredients, ADM Ringaskiddy in Cork, Eire, ordered its second H2 125/3.2si centrifuge from Krauss Maffei (UK).
The first horizontal peeler centrifuge had been delivered to ADM in 1992 for use in the production of the food additive gluconic acid, which is a traditionally difficult material to filter and wash. The machine's performance, under intensive use, has been consistently high and led directly to the ordering of the second unit.
The horizontal centrifuges achieve higher g-forces than vertical basket machines, delivering lower residual moistures. They feature Krauss Maffei's own thermomechanical feed control device. This detects the actual level in the centrifuge basket and measures variations in product properties by a programme control system that alters the process parameters to generate a consistent product.
