More PTA in the UK
29 Apr 2003
DuPont Sabanci Polyester Europe BV (DuPontSA), a joint venture between Sabanci Holding Company and DuPont Textiles and Interiors, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Aker Kvaerner, to provide the engineering and procurement services for the expansion of a purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant at Wilton, Teesside in the UK.
With a contract value of £2 million, the project will be led from Aker Kvaerner's Solent office in the UK, with local support provided by a site design office at Wilton on Teesside.
The scope of work comprises complete detailed design engineering, procurement and expediting, and inspection services, for the expansion of the PTA plant.
The project will increase capacity at DuPontSA's T8 PTA plant by 100,000 tonnes per annum to more than 500 ktpa.
DuPontSA expects to complete the project by September 2004. The increased output of PTA will primarily support the increased European feedstock demand for the PET packaging industry.
