Chinese power plant gets automated
2 Sep 2003
Emerson Process Management has won a $10 million contract from the Shaanxi HanCheng Second Power Company to install instrumentation and control systems for the first 600MW power plant in northwest China's Shaanxi Province.
The new power plant, initially consisting of two 600MW coal-fired units, will be funded by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation.
The cornerstone of the project is the installation of Emerson's PlantWeb digital plant architecture. PlantWeb will employ Emerson's multi-network Ovation information and control system to control and monitor the plant's boilers, burner management system and plant protection system.
Start up for Unit 1 is scheduled for August 2005. Unit 2 is expected to start operations in March 2006.
