Serck takes control of Rotork safety
3 Feb 2003
Rotork has sold its control and safety business to Serck Controls, a specialist in Scada software for utilities operations, for an undisclosed sum.
The takeover will provide investment for the operations to reach their potential, according to Rotork's sales and marketing manager, Dermot Coady.
Serck has offices in the UK, Australia, the Middle East and China, employing some 350 people and generating annual revenues around $75million.
The Rotork businesses, which supply integrated control and safety systems for mission-critical applications in the oil, gas, chemicals, drugs, power, nuclear and water sectors, will operate as a separate division of the company, and will change their name to Serck Control & Safety at the end of March.
'We've had tremendous success in the last three years, and are at the point where support and investment is required to take the company to the next stage,' says Coady.
'Serck is the perfect parent for us, being focused on growing a systems business and offering complementary products. We'll be able to utilise these and their worldwide presence to better support our existing customers and enable us to develop businesses in new regions.'
