Buying peptides
21 Nov 2002
Fisher Scientific International has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Maybridge Chemical Holdings, a UK-based provider of organic compounds and combinatorial libraries for use in drug discovery.
The company also announced that it has acquired Mimotopes, an Australia-based manufacturer of custom peptides and peptide libraries used in conducting scientific research.
The acquisitions will provide drug discovery tools that will expand Fisher's product and service offering to its life-science customers. The total purchase price for both transactions is approximately $55 million.
The two companies have combined annual revenues of approximately $22 million and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of approximately $6 million.
The Maybridge transaction is expected to close by the end of the month.
