Laporte improvements
29 Mar 2000
New production facilities, storage areas, distillation plant and reactors, and improvements in incineration plant are on the cards for Laporte Fine Chemicals' facility on Teesside. The improvements will help meet projected demand for pharmaceutical ingredients and active ingredients, the company says.
The plant, which is also the location for a recently-opened R&D centre, now includes a 20m3 glass lined reactor and a 6m3 Rosenmund pressure filter, and four 2000 gallon tanks for storage of corrosive liquids. The company has installed a PLC-controlled continuous distillation plant on a process line which produces intermediates for high-performance thermoplastics, and built a temperature-controlled warehouse which complies with certified Good Manufacturing Practice guidelines
