Money for heat exchange

The members of the US Brazed Aluminium Plate-Fin Heat Exchanger Manufacturers'  Association, ALPEMA, are to award a prize for innovation in the design and development of brazed aluminium plate-fin heat exchangers (BAHXs).

The award, to be given every 2 years, is to encourage progress in the use and design of BAHXs. The emphasis will be in innovation rather than on a body of work over many years.

The award comprises a commemorative plaque and the sum of $5000, and the first award will be presented at the ALPEMA annual conference in May 2006.

Nominations are invited now with a closing date of the end of January 2006. Full rules and conditions for the award can be found on www.alpema.org.

The winner will be announced in March 2006.

BAHXs are used in a variety of applications including cryogenic separation and liquifaction of air, natural gas processing and liquifaction, the production of petrochemicals and treatment of offgases, and large refrigeration systems.
