Aveva signs up with Graitec
8 Feb 2006
Process plant engineers in the oil and gas, paper and pulp, power, chemical and shipbuilding industries will benefit from an alliance that unites the plant design management (PDMS) technology of Aveva with Graitec’s Advance engineering software for steel work and concrete design.
Announced at last month’s daratechPLANT 2006 congress in Houston, the alliance will enable PDMS users to supplement their existing steelwork layout design with a dedicated system for AutoCAD-based steelwork detailing and automated drawing production. This will enable the exchange of fabrication and control information with steel fabricators.
A full integration package of PDMS and Advance for steelwork users will be available later this year, although a production-tested, two-way interface is available immediately.
Based in Bievres, France, Graitec has been developing CAD and analysis software for the construction industry for over 20 years and is believed to be the only global supplier offering a complete suite of fully compatible and integrated products covering design and detailing for the reinforced concrete and steel construction industries. It invests 30% of its turnover in R&D.
Founded in 1967, Aveva is a leading supplier of engineering life-cycle tools and employs more than 500 worldwide. It had pre-tax profits of £10.7m on a turnover of £57.5m in the year to 31 March 2005.
