According to Emerson, the project marks the first installation of Foundation fieldbus technology on a power generation facility in China. The contract, which was awarded by China Huadian Group Corp., is due for completion in 2007.
The contract, involving units 7 and 8 of the plant, will make the Zouxian the largest coal-fired plant in China with a total generating capacity of 4,540 megawatts. Units 5 and 6 of the plant also utilize Emerson controls.
Emerson said its solution includes 64 redundant controllers, 24 Ovation workstations, AMS Suite asset management software and over 130 Foundation fieldbus intelligent devices.
“Because this is one of the first projects in which we are applying ultra-supercritical technology, we needed a proven, state-of-the-art control solution backed by superior technical expertise” said Hua Zhang, senior I&C engineer, China Huadian Group, in a 15 Feb Emerson release.
