Instron announces It's new SF600 and SF1240
10 Apr 2006
InstronÒ, a leading provider of testing equipment designed to evaluate mechanical properties of materials and components, introduces its SF600 and SF1240 motor-driven spring testing systems. Designed to perform setting and testing on tension and compression springs and other spring-type products, the user-friendly SF Series is ideal for use in the aerospace and automotive industries.
The single column SF600 series incorporates a robust ‘C’-frame design for minimal frame deflection under load and can test springs from 0.05 N (0.2 ozf) to 2 kN (450 lbf). The unique design of the SF600 Series allows for fast and simple testing at crosshead speeds up to 1,000 mm/min (40 in/min). Instron’s SF1240 Series features a dual-column design with 40 mm lead screws and two 50 mm precision guide columns for maximum stiffness. A servo-drive also controls the frame’s loading crosshead for fully automatic load testing with speeds up to 1,000 mm/min. The SF1240 offers frame capacities from 5 kN (1,125 lbf) to 25 kN (5,625 lbf) and load cell capacities ranging from 1kN (225 lbf) to 25kN (5,625 lbf). Instron’s heavy-duty spring testing load cells incorporate mechanical overload stops and at least 300 percent overload capacity, minimizing the chance of load cell damage during overload conditions. Additionally, height errors due to machine and load cell deflection are automatically corrected by the system’s electronics to provide accurate spring height measurements.
Both systems are controlled by Instron’s Partner™ software, designed to manage and automate the entire spring testing process. Partner provides users with a fast, one-step testing mechanism and clear, color-coded results display. Data is collected continuously offering real-time measurements and graphs. Additionally, Partner software stores the data and results in a database for easy access from other corporate application software. Easy-to-use customizable reports are also available for hard copy results.
