Krohne's UFM 3030 cuts waste and rework
11 Apr 2006
The UFM 3030s have been installed as part of an instrumentation upgrade to the company’s PTFE production plant. The water flowmeters provide data to a newly installed Distributed Control System (
The ultra-pure water is produced on the plant and undergoes several processes to provide the quality of water required for the manufacture of PTFE. Accurate control of the amount of water used during manufacture is critical for production quality. As PTFE is a high value material, waste and rework can substantially increase cost of manufacture. The flowmeters ensure that the correct amount of water is charged and that there has been no under or over-charging.
The UFM 3030s replaced obsolete vortex flow meters that could not deliver the level of accuracy now required, and whose signals were not directly compatible with the new DCS.

The UFM 3030 is a three beam ultrasonic flowmeter incorporating a patented transducer design. It is ideally suited for use in industrial chemical applications.
