George Fischer's 567 Valve breaks the 'Encrustation Barrier'
15 May 2006
In many industries quick and easy opening and closing of a valve, particularly if it has remained in one position or the other for a long period, is imperative. Therefore elimination of encrustation in the ‘seating area’ makes the development of the 567 Double Eccentric Butterfly Valve of considerable importance in industries such as water treatment, swimming pools, water parks, waste water, chemical, electroplating, power plants etc.
With the launch of the 567 Double Eccentric Butterfly Valve George Fischer has also added an optional electric position indicator. Integrated in the mounting flange it automatically designates the operating situation of the valve; a considerable contribution to operational safety.
Innovative design of the 567 Double Eccentric Butterfly Valve has enabled the actuation torque to be reduced by up to 50 per cent; less than most other butterfly valves. While this increases valve life and extends service periods it also has a financial advantage in that smaller and more economical actuators can be utilised; particularly in lower to medium pressure applications.
While two ‘O’ rings and a bi-directional seal provide outstanding protection from external leakage the elimination of contact between the valve disc and the seal on the 567 Double Eccentric Butterfly Valve, when in the open position, also provides good frictional behaviour and reduced wear and tear.
Available with manual gearbox, single or double acting pneumatic or electric actuator, with manual over ride, the 567 Double Eccentric Butterfly Valve can also be used with an electric position indicator.
Hand operation of George Fischer’s 567 Double Eccentric Butterfly Valve, is by an ergonomic high strength PP lever, utilising a ‘ratchet principle’, to enable the opening positions to be locked in 5 deg. increments – clearly visible on the top index plate.
Compared with standard butterfly valves, which operate on the concentric principle, the type 567 Butterfly Valve, which has a bi directional rating of 10 bar, provides better protection against pressure surges, and pressure pulses, further contributing to reduced maintenance during its longer service life.
To withstand harsh environments, and provide a clear and smooth bore, George Fischer’s 567 Double Eccentric Butterfly Valve can be manufactured from PVC-U, PVC-C, ABS, PP-H or PVDF with EPDM and FPM seals. It complies with international standards prEN, ISO 16136, ISO 9393 and EN558 and has approvals pending for DIBt, NSF61 and TA Luft.
