Enhanced temperature performance takes gaskets to new levels

Alfa Laval is introducing a new range of gaskets for its Plate Heat Exchangers (PHEs), evaporators and condensers that, claim the company, will enable it to make even further inroads into high temperature applications previously considered suitable only for shell & tube heat exchangers.
Developed in Alfa Laval’s material laboratory, the new EPDMP gasket material enables Alfa Laval PHEs to operate at temperatures as high as 1800C. This is 200C higher than was possible with previous gaskets. The new gaskets will initially be available on a range of exchangers, from small units such as the M6-M model to the TS20-M - one of Alfa Laval’s heat exchangers specifically designed to utilise steam as the heating medium - and the AlfaVap 350 and 500 model plate evaporators.
