Munters and Airedale Clean Up
4 Aug 2006
Humidity experts, Munters have been working with Airedale Environmental Services to provide the perfect conditions for a number of pharmaceutical clean rooms. Clean rooms are required to have a specific air pressure, temperature and relative humidity (RH) level at all times.
One of the main factors is that contamination of the product cannot occur. To ensure that this does not happen, the area is held at the required pressure to remove the risk of contamination. Such arrangements often involve stepped pressure differences in adjacent locations which are graded to suit.
Munters dehumidification systems, in conjunction with Airedale Environmental Services, can provide the entire solution by controlling the pressure, the temperature and also the RH levels.
The Munters process – how it works
The principle of Munters desiccant dehumidifiers is very simple. Moisture is absorbed onto a slowly-revolving desiccant wheel as the air passes through. A small heater reactivates the wheel in another air-stream and drives off the moisture which has collected on the drying side of the dehumidifier. This is either vented outside the building or collected as condensation and discharged. As all the moisture is removed as water vapour by the desiccant wheel, the dehumidifier can operate effectively even at very low temperatures and still maintain the desired humidity conditions.
