French group wins $200-million contract to develop Kupe Gas Project development off North Island
Paris — Origin Energy Resources (Kupe) Ltd has awarded Technip a $200-million contract for the overall development of its Kupe Gas Project development in the Taranaki Basin, 30km off the west coast of North Island, New Zealand.
Technip’s remit includes the design, EPC, installation and commissioning of an unmanned wellhead platform with capacity for up to 6 wells plus future satellites as well as 12% multiphase pipeline to shore and an umbilical link from the platform to shore.
The offshore work is due to begin in early 2007 with the platform installation, followed later by the rigid pipelay. The onshore processing facilities are to start commercial production by the first half of 2009, added Technip.
The project team will be based in Technip's offices in Perth, Australia with detail design support from Technip‚s operations and engineering center in Kuala Lumpur. Origin is acting as operator of the development for a joint venture formed with Genesis Energy, New Zealand Oil and Gas Ltd and Mitsui E & P New Zealand Ltd.
