Euromixers has completed a year-long search for a supplier of stainless steel AC motors that were compatible with its range of stainless steel mixers. The company cast its net worldwide, but in the end found the solution quite close to home.
The company manufactures direct-drive mixers for the food and drinks, pharmal and cosmetics industries and wanted the motors for a range of mixers to meet the most demanding hygiene standards.
"We looked in Europe, North America and Asia for a range of stainless steel motors, but, in the end, we found a supplier in the UK," said Howard Stafford, managing director of Euromixers, based in Stockport.
According to Stafford, Marlin Stainless, a division of AEG Electric Motors, was the only company offering a range of motors covering frame sizes from 63 to 132 with power ratings from 0.18-7.5 kW. These units, he added, had the extra bonus of being IP66 rated, making them ideal for pressure hose wash downs.
The Marlin Stainless 3-phase motors are all metric IEC machines and are designed to allow complete inter-changeability with existing motors, both as original build components and as retrofit items. Hygienic features include smooth exteriors, without cooling fins or nameplates to harbour germs.
