Aquatech taps winning technologies
26 Sep 2006
Amsterdam — Organisers of Aquatech 2006 — international exhibition on process, drinking and waste water, 26 – 29 Sept, Amsterdam — have announced the Waterflux 2070 water meter from Krohne as the overall winner of the event’s Innovation Award.
According to Walter van der Meer, chairman of the judging panel, the winning product represents “a revolutionary double solution.” The meter, he said, measures water flow using an unencumbered electromagnetic procedure and can measure the flow of liquids containing solids as it presents no obstacle to water flow.
Krohne’s use of wireless GMSS or GPRS communications and a self-sustained battery in the unit particularly impressed the judging panel. The features, said the chairman, mean “the meter can fitted at any plant, distribution network or even consumer’s location.”
Among the other successful entrants in the Aquatech event , Hyflux Ceparation earned a category winner award for its CEPAration CeraCep — a compact and robust ceramic hollow-fibre membrane, which is designed to resist aggressive chemical, mechanical and thermal conditions.
The Hyflux product “is a definite improvement on traditional membranes made of polymeric materials, which have little or no resistance to extreme conditions,” commented van der Meer.
