Emerson fiscal metering for Chinese LNG project

Austin, Texas — Emerson Process Management has won the fiscal metering contract for the Fujian LNG-import terminal. The $3bn project in Fujian Province will create China’s second LNG terminal, importing 2.6 million tonnes annually and supplying two major power plants and five coastal cities from early 2008.

The Fujian facility will be owned and operated by CNOOC Fujian LNG Co. Ltd — a co-investment of China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) and Fujian Investment and Development Corp.

According to Emerson, accurate, reliable custody transfer measurement of natural gas is critical for fiscal accounting and taxation purposes.

Emerson has engineered and delivered its Daniel natural gas metering systems on 12 high-performance gas metering skids that ensure high-integrity, accurate, reliable measurement of natural gas volume, quality, composition and calorific value.

Emerson Daniel products for the project include ultrasonic metering skids and gas turbine metering skids, including gas ultrasonic meters, gas turbine meters, flow computers and gas chromatographs.
