Warrington, UK — Engineering service provider ESR Technology has won a contract to supply specialist composite pipework consultancy for the RAS Laffan Cooling Seawater System in Qatar, ESR announced 26 Oct.
The Warrington-based firm was awarded the contract by Dodsal Group — the Dubai-based engineering, procurement and construction multinational commissioned to deliver the $1-billion cooling seawater system by state-owned Qatar Petroleum.
According to ESR, its project remit is to review and advise on issues relating to material qualification, system design and installation for the 76 km of GRP pipes and fittings ranging from 50 mm up to 4000 mm.
The Dodsal project covers pumps as well as electrical and telecommunications systems at Ras Laffan in Qatar, a major oil and gas production location. The project will support Qatar Gas and Ras Gas in the production of LNG and also supply seawater to Q Power for cooling of LNG production machinery and seawater desalination.
