ARI tackles steam trap failures

Alternative to conductivity devices, which are subject to spurious signals, claims Harrison
London -- ARI-Armaturen has introduced a new system to alert plant operators and engineers of failure -- blocked or passing steam -- of the steam traps on a plant. The product, it claims, offers significant energy saving and environmental benefits.
ARI-Armaturen employs a patented calorimetric device to measure the steam-trap performance. The system is designed to communicate with plant computer systems via BUS technology.
The need for such a system has long been recognised, but until now, only old-fashioned conductivity devices have been used which are subject to spurious signals, caused by dirt on the conductivity probe,” said Tony Harrison, Operations Manager, ARI-Armaturen. “This unreliability has meant that systems have been installed, but not successfully commissioned.”
