Power packs extend MGCsplit amplifier system

HBM has introduced the new NT650 and NT651 power packs to stabilize the on-board voltage of its MGCsplit vehicle testing modules at 28V within a permissible range of 10 and 58V. The power packs enable up to ten MGCsplit modules to be connected.

The power packs can be remotely controlled through digital inputs or CAN enabling the operating state to be automatically adjusted, depending on the vehicle’s status. Manual control through the power pack is also possible.

Status information is exchanged between the power packs and the communication processor of the MGCsplit amplifier. For example, if the battery voltage drops then the communication processor ensures that the data storage to the hard disk is terminated in a controlled way. The power packs’ circuitry is based on the robust ODU Minisnap series.

An important feature for mobile tests is that protection to IP65 is a standard feature of each of the power packs which are also short-circuit and dew-point proof. Protection against polarity reversal is provided.

The NT650 power pack features a power back-up that operates even if the battery supply fails for up to 10 seconds.
