F&S award for Emerson Coriolis technology
5 Dec 2006
Coriolis technology offers high accuracy measurement for gas and liquid applications in a wide range of operating environments. A single Coriolis meter can measure mass and density directly without the need for additional pressure and temperature devices.
“Emerson's Micro Motion division has made extensive contributions in Coriolis technology development and has been awarded over 150 US patents that cover a wide range of product, technology and applications,” said Miriam Nagel, an F&S research analyst.
Since introducing the first practical Coriolis metering devices in 1977, Emerson has further developed the technology and installed over 500,000 Micro Motion Coriolis devices in wide-ranging applications around the world. The technology is particularly important in sectors where measurement accuracy is critical, such as LNG and compressed natural gas (CNG), as well as in other oil & gas industries.
“Significantly, Coriolis flow measurement technology is also being used for ethanol production and quality control due to the ability to measure alcohol concentration and flow with a single device,” Nagel also commented.
