Contract to provide DCS, safety and fire & gas systems for $2bn plant
London -- Yemen LNG Co. Ltd has selected Invensys Process Systems to provide distributed control systems (DCS), safety systems and fire & gas systems for a new $2-billion plant, being built at Balhaf, on Yemen’s south coast.
YEMGAS -- a joint venture between Technip, JGC and KBR -- is in charge of the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning of the new plant.
The “multi-million dollar contract” includes the Foxboro I/A Series DCS, Triconex safety and fire & gas systems, and engineering services on what is Yemen’s first LNG plant, Invensys said 13 Dec.
Yemen LNG aims to achieve a total capacity of 6.7 million tons of LNG per year with the new plant, which will consist of two process trains. Train 1 is due for start-up at the end of 2008, with Train 2 coming on stream about five months later.
Invensys said its remit includes providing a range of hardware and software integration, configuration and engineering services, as well as on-site assistance with commissioning, start-up and technical training.YEMGAS -- a joint venture between Technip, JGC and KBR -- is in charge of the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning of the new plant.
