Atlas Copco Compressors has appointed Leen van Diggele as its new managing director for the UK. He joins the UK team from his current position as MD of Atlas Copco Compressors in The Netherlands. Van Deen,who holds a degree in mechanical engineering, started his career with the Atlas Copco Group over 30 years ago as a salesman in The Netherlands. Between 1979 and 1996, he held positions including divisional manager for Portable Air through to regional MD of Atlas Copco Tools Benelux. In 1996, van Diggele moved to the position of marketing manager for the Industrial Air division of Atlas Copco Airpower in Belgium and then became regional MD Compressors Alpine Region in 1999. In 2003, he returned to The Netherlands and took up his former position as MD.
Alison Smith has joined Aspen Technology Inc. as vice president of marketing strategy & research. She previously worked for AMR Research as research director for its manufacturing operations market service. One of the industry’s foremost experts on manufacturing operations best practices, Smith chose to come to AspenTech to help bring to market solutions that enable best practices in process optimisation. She will lead the company's marketing strategy and research and her team will focus on analysing industry, technology and business process trends.
Hanovia Ltd has appointed John Ryan as its new managing director. Ryan has over 20 years’ international experience in the water treatment industry and brings a wealth of expertise and knowledge. He joins Hanovia from Christ Water Technology, where he served most recently as the head of group customer services, and previously as the managing director of Christ Water Technology in Ireland. Prior to joining Christ he worked for a number of leading water technology companies, including Veolia, Memcor and Permutit Boby. Ryan received an MBA from Warwick University and holds a BSc in chemical engineering from Loughborough University. He is a chartered engineer and a member of the IChemE.
Furmanite International has appointed a new director of sales, Gareth Morgan, to head up its national and international sales network. The appointment follows the move of Mike Tucker to take up the role of business development director for the company. Morgan has previously held senior posts within international oil services company Expro international Group, where he was responsible for West Africa, North Africa and Middle East sales through hands-on leadership of business departments and teams. His experience includes ten years in the oil & gas sector and a regional business manager role in the pharmaceutical sector.
Thermal Energy International Inc has announced the appointment of Peter Bennett as sales and marketing director at GEM Ltd, the company’s recently acquired steam trap manufacturing operation, based in Bristol, UK. A well-respected industry expert, Bennett has a wealth of technical and sales experience related to the development and deployment of efficient energy production systems and solutions to industrial, institutional and commercial clients.
RTS Flexible Systems has appointed Peter Hewson to lead its service and support business in the UK, Ireland and Europe. Hewson was formerly service controller for the Northern Support Centre of FKI Logistics, having spent 10 years in service engineering roles with the company.
Altra Industrial Motion has appointed Mark Klossner to the executive position of vice president and general manager of the Altra Engineered Couplings Group. Klossner joined the global power transmission firm in 2004 as a strategic marketing analyst and was subsequently promoted to Strategic Marketing Manager focused on improving Altra’s electromagnetic clutch/brake (ECB) business platform. He was named managing director for Altra’s business unit, Matrix International, Brechin, Scotland, in October, 2006. Prior to joining Altra, Klossner held various operational and marketing positions with Kulicke and Soffa in Pennsylvania. He holds a BS degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Cornell University, an MBA degree from Kellogg School of Management and an MS degree in Engineering from Northwestern University.
Flexible conduit manufacturer, Flexicon has appointed Malcolm Wakeford as its regional sales manager for the South East. Wakeford has six years experience in the electrical industry and 10 years sales experience in the Telecomms industry. He joins Flexicon at a time when the company is enjoying continued growth, even in the face of the economic downturn.
Flexicon has appointed Andrew Shorthouse as its new works director. Shorthouse has held senior operations roles with FTSE blue chip manufacturing organisations such as IMI, Tyco and Smiths Industries. He has also had extensive experience in the electrical industry working for another flexible conduit manufacturer. Steve Walton, who previously held the position of works director for Flexicon, will now become works director for sister company Griflex.
Icore International has appointed James Hart as business manager for Hose, responsible for all aspects of business strategy and development relating to the company’s extensive fluid transfer product range. Hart has worked as an engineer for Icore International and its predecessors for more than 15 years and has, therefore, in-depth knowledge of both the company and its products. During this time, he spent more than two years working as manager of the company’s applications department, an experience that has provided him with a real insight into the requirements of Icore’s customers and the practical problems that they face. He recently spent a year on secondment to the Icore IT Department, where he project managed the implementation of the company’s new ERP system.
H.S.Pipequipment (HSP), a stockist and distributor of valves to the oil, gas and petrochemical industry has appointed Raymond Watson as area sales manager for Scotland. Watson brings with him a wealth of experience having a strong professional mechanical engineering background. He has worked for reputable companies such as Thomson Valve and Rotork PCC. He has an extensive and diverse experience within the valve industry, which has been acquired during his previous roles within leading companies and end users such as BP.
The Engineering and Technology Board (ETB) has appointed Paul Jackson CEng, FIET as chief executive with effect from 5 Jan. Sir Anthony Cleaver, chairman of the ETB, welcomed the appointment: “Paul brings with him a breadth of experience, spanning technology based businesses, engineering institutions and the media, from which the ETB will benefit. The Board of Trustees and I look forward to working with Paul to build on John Morton’s success in working with our partners across the engineering community to promote the vital role of engineers, engineering and technology in our society.”

David Burton has been appointed as the general manager of Boge UK. He has over 28 years of experience in the compressed air industry, working for both manufacturers and distributors. Most recently he has been responsible for developing sales in South East Asia for Boge and will therefore hit the ground running in his new role having already acquired an in-depth understanding of the company and Boge’s product and service portfolio.”
Picme Ltd has promoted Sarah Grindrod to client services manager, responsible for the development of training services including the BIT NVQ Programme, which offers both process and quality pathways. A chartered mechanical engineer with over 10 years’ experience in manufacturing management, Grindrod has worked as an improvement engineer at Picme for the last six years. She specialises in value stream and process mapping and has developed and delivered programmes of work aimed at improving management performance in continuous improvement.
Chartered manufacturing engineer Jason Barclay has been appointed to the role of business development manager at Picme Ltd. Barclay is a well-respected member of the team, having worked with over 50 companies across a range of manufacturing sectors since joining Picme in 2002 as an Improvement Consultant specialising in operations and supply chain improvement. He has also undertaken improvement programmes within the service sector.
Stuart Hutchinson has taken up the position of general sales manager of the Deritend/Deritend RMB & Deritend H&K business units, specialising in maintenance services, electro-mechanical repairs, asset management and engineering projects. Hutchinson joins Deritend from a global engineering and manufacturing group based in Scotland and has extensive sales management experience with global electro-mechanical engineering businesses.
BJ Services Co. has appointed Kevin Robertson has been appointed country manager - India for Tubular Services. In his new role, Robertson is based in Mumbai, India where he oversees all aspects of operations, financial management, and market expansion for Tubular Services in India. With 17 years’ experience in the oilfield service industry, he brings an in-depth knowledge of tubular and completion assembly services, engineering, technical operations and management.
J.P. (Hanco) van den Akker has been appointed managing director of Azelis Benelux with effect from 1 Nov. He joins Azelis from Honeywell where he was responsible for specialty chemicals sales and distribution in Europe, Africa, Middle East and India. He brings valuable experience as a Principal responsible for distribution and has a record of consistent, strong commercial achievement throughout his career with Akzo Nobel Chemicals, Cosun UA, Tokheim and Wavin. Van den Akker has an MBA and a BSc in chemical engineering.
Royal Dutch Shell plc today announced that Peter Voser will succeed Jeroen van der Veer as chief executive, effective 1 July 2009. Voser is chief financial officer and a director of the board since October 2004. Voser joined the Royal Dutch/Shell Group of Companies in 1982 and has held a number of finance and business roles in Switzerland, Argentina, Chile and the UK until March 2002. He then joined Asea Brown Boveri (ABB) Ltd as chief financial officer, returning to Shell four years ago.
CH2M HILL has appointed Barry Hall as its Ireland country manager. A 32-year veteran employee, Hall brings operational experience and business leadership to his new role in the firm’s Dublin office. He has held numerous engineering and management positions, including mechanical engineering department manager, project manager/director and Atlanta office manager. Most recently, he was vice president and global director for the aerospace and aviation sector as part CH2M’s manufacturing and life sciences business group. Hall received his bachelor’s degree in marine engineering from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. He also holds professional engineering licenses in 12 US states.
Sperian Protection UK has appointed Andrew Hughes as its new national product sales manager for its gas detection division, Sperian Instrumentation, under which it manufactures and supplies gas detection equipment. Hughes joins Sperian from MSA where he was business development manager for six years. With an HND in business, finance and marketing, Andrew has worked in the PPE industry for nearly 20 years and has a deep knowledge of the business having worked for both manufacturers and a distributor. In his previous role with MSA Andrew gained specific knowledge about gas detection products having promoted a distribution strategy within the UK selling both PPE and gas detection products.

CompAir / Jerome Maguire: Sales manager for Ireland - Graduating from Queens University in Belfast with a degree in mechanical engineering, Maguire went straight into a sales career. After undertaking sales positions for a variety of companies, including manufacturers of food machinery, vacuum pumps and industrial shredders, he took his first steps into the compressed air sector in 1998 when he joined Atlas Copco as sales engineer for Ulster. After nine years in compressed air sales for the company, Jerome left in 2007 and had a brief return to the vacuum pumps sector before taking up the post at CompAir.
Severn Trent Services / Gary Richards: European sales director for its Water Purification group - With a career spanning more than 27 years, Richards has significant experience in research and development operations, chemical plant operations and worldwide commissioning of large-scale chemical, water and engineering plants. Prior to joining Severn Trent Services, he was employed by Statiflo International as sales director, where he gained extensive experience in the water treatment, oil, gas, petrochemical and pharmaceutical sectors. Richards has been an associate member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers since 1981. He holds qualifications in chemical engineering, microbiology and biochemistry and is a director of the International Ozone Association EA3 Group. Richards is fluent in German and speaks conversational French.
Oilennium / Phill Kirby: Technical manager - Has 20 years of experience in operations management in the oil and gas industry. Launched his oil career as a roustabout in 1984 with Rowan Drilling. In 1988 he moved on to Schlumberger as a wireline operator, and worked in a number of production technology roles before accepting the position of operations co-ordinator with Weatherford UK in Great Yarmouth. By 2002, he had progressed to the position of operations & project manager for DDV & Membrane Services, responsible for the Europe, West Africa & CIS Region. Before joining Oilennium this summer, he worked as a construction co-ordinator for SLP Energy in Great Yarmouth.
Oilennium / Jonathan Harvey: Senior instructional designer - During his 10 years in the creative design field, Harvey has developed an expertise in animation, design and e-learning solutions. Before joining Oilennium, he worked in Norwich as a freelance consultant providing clients with creative design and animation services for over two years. Previously, he worked for seven years as a Creative Designer for LJ Create, which specialises in technology and science-based learning for schools around the world. He holds a Master’s degree in digital practices/arts from Norwich University College of the Arts.
Woodcock & Wilson / Vince Phillips: Sales manager; Denzil Simpson: Production manager; Martyn Crouch: Contracts engineer - Phillips brings over 20 years' experience in the fan industry, having worked for companies such as London Fan Company, Fans & Spares Ltd and Halifax Fan. Simpson and Crouch between them bring a portfolio of over 50 years' manufacturing and engineering experience to the company.
Sperian Protection UK / Susan Peverelli: National product sales manager - Joins from 3M where she was channel/distribution manager for the company’s general industrial business. With a degree in business and management and an HND in chemistry, Peverelli started her working life in a chemical laboratory responsible for quality control and holding key positions such as territory business manager (Midlands) for the company’s occupational health business and Key Account Manager for the automotive sector.
Citect Germany / Daniel Harings: Sales executive - Combines qualifications in international trade and business administration with experience of automation and satellite communications technologies. Prior to joining Citect, he had three years' sales experience in the automation sector working for Keyence Germany, a Japanese automation vendor. In this position he dealt mostly with automotive OEMs, and also supplier companies; but he was also involved in the electronic, chemical and food/beverages industries.
Colortrac / Matthew Harris: Director of operations - Harris brings to Colortrac more than 30 years of experience gained in senior appointments within the UK electronics, telecommunications, safety and quality certification industries. He is also a leading specialist in the area of safety and quality certification.
Shell Chemicals / Nigel Hobson: Vice president operations and HSSE - has worked at Shell Chemicals since August 2007 as general manager, supply & logistics. Hobson first joined Shell in early 2005 as a consultancy manager in the downstream strategy & portfolio management consultancy, leading a number of international engagements. After graduating as a chemical engineer from Exeter University in 1987, he gained broad experience with ExxonMobil. Held leadership roles in refinery operations, crude oil trading, corporate planning, supply & distribution operations and B2B Sales.
Shell Chemicals / Graham Van' t Hoff: Vice president global base chemicals - Appointment consolidates the current Shell base chemicals Europe, Americas and APME businesses into one global division under his leadership. Van' t Hoff was appointed to the Chemicals Leadership team in February 2005, adding the role of general manager Shell Chemicals Europe BV in March 2006.
Centre for Robotics and Automation (CenFRA) / Martin Lowe: Managing director - Lowe has worked in a range of different food sectors and has direct experience of robotic integration at shop floor level. he joins CenFRA from production logistics and materials handling company FlexLInk AB, where he was responsible for the company's offering to the FMCG segment including NPD. Prior to joining FlexLink in 2001, Lowe was Unigate Dairies' group chief engineer, with responsibility for nine production sites and a large number of engineering staff. Other blue chip company appointments have included the Co-operative Wholesale Society, Simon Engineering and the National Freight Corp.
Institute of Measurement & Control (InstMC) / Peter Martindale: Chief executive and secretary - Joined InstMC as professional development manager in 2004 and was later appointed deputy secretary. Worked at universities in Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia) and Australia and then joined the UK's Institution of Mining and Metallurgy in 1990, becoming deputy secretary in 1990. Left to join a major supermarket chain in 2002.
Artesis UK / Joe Barnes: UK manager - Previously held positions in sales and technical support for a number of industrial companies, most recently Proctor and Gamble. He is now is responsible for all UK sales operations, building and developing relationships with the maintenance and plant engineering sector, and further extending the Artesis distributor network. Geoff Walker, director at Artesis said, “Joe’s enthusiasm for our products coupled with his excellent technical capabilities and experience in the industry is a powerful addition to our team. His work will accelerate our growth in the UK market and progress the company’s expansion in key sectors including water, marine, oil and gas, power, renewables, chemicals and manufacturing.”
Centre for Robotics and Automation, (CenFRA) / David Cheeseman: Commercial engineer - With over 29 years' engineering experience, Cheeseman is to manage and oversee the audits for companies within Yorkshire & the Humber, North West and North East regions. He was previously engineering director for Mayday Engineering Concepts Ltd, where he was involved in the design, development, manufacture and installation of products. He was also a former national operations manager of Cargill plc (Intermol Division).
BJ Services Co.’s Process and Pipeline Services (PPS) division / Bruce Campbell: Business development manager – flange integrity - With 30 years' experience in the oil and gas industry, Campbell has in-depth knowledge of bolt tensioning and torquing, valve maintenance, repair and inspection, high pressure hydro, high pressure gas and cryogenic testing, as well as plant commissioning and maintenance. He started his career with the Score Group Ltd in 1981, working in a variety of technical and management roles in Scotland and Western Australia. He joined an energy service company in Perth, Western Australia in 2000, where he worked for six years in various engineering capacities until founding SSM Engineering Pty Ltd in 2007.
DavyMarkham / Jackie Cook: Marketing executive - Previously held a similar position with accountants and business advisors, PKF. She recently completed an MSc in marketing management at Sheffield Hallam University, having studied at Tupton Hall School and Chesterfield College, where she gained a CIM advanced certificate in marketing. Cook worked at PKF UK's Sheffield office for nine years, latterly as the firm’s Marketing Executive for five years.
Technor ISIS / Darren Mann: Sales manager - As a graduate in design and materials engineering, he first joined Vickers Defence Systems in Newcastle as a supplier quality assurance engineer working on the UK MOD Challenger 2 main battle tank. Since embarking on a sales career, Mann has worked in the aerospace and education sectors and more recently in the oil and gas, petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries with Ninehundred Communications, Tyco Fire & Integrated Solutions and now Technor ISIS. He has provided communications solutions for many blue chip oil and gas producers, global utilities companies, Tier 1 engineering contractors and pharmaceutical companies. He has managed major oil & gas accounts such as Chevron, Shell, Total and ConocoPhillips.
Lincoln International / Julian Tunnicliffe: Managing director specialising in industrials M&A - Has joined the global mid-market investment bank with considerable experience in a number of industrial segments, which strengthens the firm’s global industrials practice. Julian will be based in its London office. Before joining Lincoln International, Julian headed the European Industrial and Environmental Technologies sector at Houlihan Lokey. Julian has over 25 years of investment banking experience including heading the European Capital Goods team at Deutsche Bank and senior positions at Schroders and Warburgs. He is a graduate of Trinity College, Cambridge.
MWH / Adrian Johnson: Business area manager for Carbon Management Services across the UK - Based in MWH’s Edinburgh office, he has been with MWH for 16 years, having joined as a graduate. He has degrees from the University of Durham and the University of Cambridge and is a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Civil Engineers. A recent project that Johnson and his team have delivered is a set of guidelines for UK Water Industry Research (UKWIR), on ‘embodied carbon and whole life carbon accounting’. This project is one of a suite of carbon measurement projects that UKWIR has commissioned for widespread use by the UK water industry.
UNION / David Wigglesworth: Managing director - A new role at at locking hardware company is in addition to his position as managing director of security solutions provider. The two two independent companies are being brought together at a new joint headquarters in Wolverhampton, by parent company ASSA ABLOY UK.
AUGUST
Furmanite / Dr Paul Hill: Global business development manager for composites - A specialist in composites technology for repair and strengthening of industrial assets. Hill has worked closely with Furmanite before while with the former Devonport Management Ltd, when he was technical manager for the alliance between Furmanite and DML Composites, bringing what was then still a relatively new technology to the oil and gas, power, and other industry sectors, for on-line repairs and strengthening for industrial plant. He has worked with composite materials for the oil and gas industry for 20 years, following completion of his PhD at Cambridge where he investigated methods for predicting the performance and durability of fibre-reinforced polymers in offshore and civil engineering environments. He joins Furmanite from Clock Spring where, as composite technology manager, his role involved introducing additional composite repair systems to augment the company’s product range and capabilities.
Kemutec Powder Technologies Ltd / George Tunnicliffe: Managing director - Has 30 years' experience in the powder handling and processing Industry and was instrumental in the creation of Kemutec Powder Technologies Ltd, formed in 2005 as part of a management led buyout. More recently, he managed Kemutec’s acquisition of PPS in 2006. The appointment is part of a management restructure at Kemutec. Tony Goodwin and Steve Bayley are appointed operations director and technical director, respectively. They join Martin Thomson, sales director, responsible for all sales activity outside the US and Rob Dallow, president of Kemutec Powder Technologies Inc.
Grontmij / Andy Sullivan: Director of systems - Sullivan was promoted internally following six successful years with Grontmij most recently as deputy director of environment. Prior to joining Grontmij in 2002, Mr Sullivan’s career was with engineering and process contractors within the water and general electrical and ICA engineering sectors. With a career in engineering spanning two decades, he has worked in construction and consultancy roles, gathering experience in systems technologies across a number of markets and delivering skills and expertise on projects for clients such as Statoil in Norway, British Steel, Seven Trent Water and Anglian Water.
BEKO Technologies / Ian Taylor: Customer support/internal sales - Has joined BEKO from a local competitor where he worked as an area sales manager. With a service and engineering background, he has been in sales roles for 11 years, including nine within the compressed air industry. Taylor holds a diploma of Compressed Air Management (Dip CAM) and an ONC electrical engineering qualification.
Thorite / Jim Fletcher: Branch dupervisor at the company’s Huddersfield Sales & Service Centre - Joined Thorite in 2005 as a Sales Administrator, working from the Sheffield branch. He now takes on many new responsibilities, including managing all resources in Huddersfield, improving customer service levels, training new and existing team members, maintaining stock levels and co-ordinating telephone account management.
Adept Scientific / Nadia Razzaq and David Ingham: Internal sales consultant and technical support assistant, respectively - Razzaq has worked for Fujitsu and most recently The Lamp Company. Ingham has a degree from the University of Portsmouth in Mathematics for Financial Markets and has most recently worked at Vertex Financial Services.
WEG / Gustavo Iensen: Regional director for Europe - A longstanding member of the WEG team having worked with the company since 1981, including ten years with the European region, spanning a number of areas from QC to product engineering. Since 1996 he has worked within external sales, his most recent position being regional director of the Asian market. Iensen has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and MBA in Business Administration.
Jiskoot Ltd / Steve Windley: Sales manager for the Middle East, North Africa and the former Soviet Union - Has over 20 years’ experience within the pump, valve and sub-sea sectors in the Middle East as well as Europe and the US, with a record of delivering sales growth in engineering solutions. “Jiskoot is the world’s premium supplier of custody transfer sampling equipment,” says Windley, “and I am looking forward to using my experience and skills to grow their business in both traditional and new markets.”
Sontay / Sue Garg: Southern area sales manager - Brings a wealth of experience in the electronic components industry and, most recently, has worked as a strategic account manager looking after top customers for RS Components, a leading distributor of electrical and industrial components. In her new role she is responsible for southern England, including Berkshire and Oxfordshire, through to South Wales.
HS Pipequipment / Dennis Skelton and Robin Glew: Sales Engineers in the North East of England - Skelton brings a wealth of experience with him having worked in the valve industry in the North East for over 20 years. In the last ten years he has established and operated a branch of a major valve stockist in Teesside. In this role he built up an outstanding status for ensuring deliveries were made on time and that stock was maintained to suit local requirements. Glew has already been with HSP for 12 years and during this time has built a reputation for responsiveness to customer needs and selecting products that meet client specifications.
Hanovia / Keith Watson: Sales and marketing director - Has extensive experience in global sales to many process and manufacturing industries and brings a wealth of technical expertise to the post. After gaining a Chemistry degree from Exeter University, he spent several years in industrial chemistry before pursuing a career in technical instrumentation sales. He was sales director of Arun Technology in the UK before spending 10 years in Hong Kong and China where he was general manager of Martek Marine Limited and managing director of Spectro Analytical (Asia Pacific) Limited.
Citect / Carlo Di Leo: Business development manager, for Ampla: Highly experienced sales executive, with a strong background in business development and key account management, Di Leo has worked for companies such as Rockwell Automation, Petrofac, Invensys and Wyko. He has experience in most major industries, from oil & gas, power utilities, Ppaper & Pulp, food & drink, and has managed blue-chip accounts such as Transco LNG, Marathon Oil, ExxonMobil, British Energy, Thames Water, HJ Heinz, McVites, Kodak, Opel Cars, and many more.
AMEC plc / Ian McHoul: chief financial officer - Previously group finance director of Scottish and Newcastle plc (S & N), he will join AMEC on 8 Sept 2008. McHoul has proven track record. In his seven years as group finance director with S & N, he was integral to the rebuilding of trust in delivery against performance targets. Most recently he played an important role in the sale of S & N to Heineken and Carlsberg, which achieved a strong price for shareholders. A chartered accountant who trained with KPMG, much of his earlier experience was in finance and strategy roles with Foster's Brewing Group Limited, both in Australia and with Courage Limited in the UK.
Cinpres Gas Injection Ltd / James Jenkinson: Company sales director - Has worked in the international plastics industry for over 20 years and has built up a wealth of knowledge. He also has a clear strategic view for the growth of sales in key markets," said Jon Butler, managing director. "The focus of the new position will be significant sales growth in Germany, Eastern Europe, India, Brazil, China and the USA, to which James' dynamism, enthusiasm, considerable sales experience and multi-lingual capabilities will be invaluable."
MWH / Chris Barker: Business area manager for Environmental Regulation for the UK - Joins the company from Yorkshire Water, where he worked for six years, following five years with the Environment Agency. He has an MSc from Leicester’s De Montfort University in Environmental Quality Management and sits on the Tyne and Humber CIWEM Regional Committee.
Hydro International / Kevin Saunders: Group quality manager - Has worked at Hydro’s Wastewater site in Ely, Cambridgeshire since 1986, starting in production and fabrication, and progressing to internal auditing and quality management, in which he has gained 11 years of experience
Malvern Instruments / Alon Vaisman: Application development manager, pharmaceuticals - Joined Malvern in 2006 as project engineer and already works with many clients in the pharmaceutical sector.
Inflexion / Ian Grice: Chairman of UK wastewater support services company Pims Group - Has extensive experience in the support services industry having been most recently chief executive of Alfred McAlpine plc where he led the company’s transformation from a low margin, diverse, international business, with primary interests in property and house building to a thriving FTSE 250 business by narrowing its focus to support services and making strategic bolt-on acquisitions. This culminated in a successful sale to Carillion plc for c.£550m. Prior to this he was director of John Mowlem Construction plc, an international construction, engineering and facilities management group.
Endress+Hauser AG / Senior management changes - Moves linked to the retirement of Dieter Schaudel, chief technology officer (CTO) and chief information officer. Klaus Endress will continue as CEO. The graduate industrial engineer, son of the company founder, has headed the Endress+Hauser Group since 1995. In addition to over-all management, he will place a high priority on supporting the company’s production centers. Michael Ziesemer, responsible on the executive board for sales and marketing, will retain this focus. As chief operating officer (COO) he will assume additional duties and will also be the deputy to Endress. The graduate electronic engineer has worked in leading positions at Endress+Hauser for the last 27 years. Ziesemer's appointment as COO will be effective from 1 July. All the other new members of the executive board will be appointed by the supervisory board of Endress+Hauser as of 1 Sept. Fernando Fuenzalida remains chief financial officer of the Endress+Hauser group. The graduate engineer has been responsible for finances and controlling within the company for the last ten years. Roland Kienzler, corporate director of human resources, will take up a new seat on the executive board. He has been responsible for personnel matters at roup level for three years. Also appointed to the executive board is Dr Heiner Zehntner, an attorney-at-law who is secretary of the supervisory board and has been legal counsel for the company since 2005. Amongst the new members of the executive board is also the mechanical engineer and economist Pieter de Koning, who was previously employed in the pharmaceutical industry. He will be join Endress+Hauser on 1 Sept and will be responsible for logistics, IT and organisation.
