Aberdeen, UK – EFC Group has announced a recent contract win with Transocean for its choke & well control systems, and secured work with the Al Ghaith Group for National Drilling Co. (NDC) of Abu Dhabi.
The Aberdeen-based company is to supply a choke control system for use onboard Transocean’s Paul B Loyd Jr North Sea rig for a six-figure value.
The award “demonstrates the design advancements EFC Group has made to its choke control systems, answering client needs for increased hydraulic and electrical redundancy, key deliverables in today’s marketplace,” said Bob Will, managing director of EFC.
“As a result of recent events in the Gulf of Mexico and pending legislation changes, EFC Group has further developed its … monitoring and controls instrumentation technology,” he added.
To date, EFC has supplied 11 choke control systems to Transocean, most of them similar in terms of sophistication and suitability for HPHT 15Kpsi well control operations.
A £240,000 contract for EFC in Abu Dhabi, meanwhile, is for work onboard NDC’s Al Hail jack-up rig, supplying and installing a high-pressure/high-temperature (HTPT) monitoring system.
“This significant UAE contract win continues to cement EFC as a niche supplier of bespoke systems for specialist areas such as well control,” said Will.
EFC designs and manufactures instrumentation, monitoring, controls and handling systems for the oil and gas industry. The company employs around 70 people worldwide.
